Films Paruski (Sratim Paruski)

A multicultural project dedicated to translating and screening films created in and by Soviet filmmakers, with a focus on Soviet classics.
This club is not only a nostalgic trip into a culture that some of the club members grew up with, but also an attempt to look at the masterpieces of Soviet and post-Soviet cinema from the perspective of people of post-24.02.22 (Russian invasion of Ukraine). Today, when all Russian-language culture is in doubt, it is more interesting than ever to understand where it grew from and how it got to where it did.
In the framework of the renewed Russian film club, Boris' family presents films from different periods and different genres, which have also gained popularity in Russia, including good reviews and awards, but mainly those that renew something for the Israeli audience about the strange and complicated country called Russia.
Screenings are accompanied by a short lecture before the film that provide a historical, cultural, and political context that helps in understanding the film.
By making the films more accessible to broader English and Hebrew-speaking audiences, the project aspires to bring the local audience into the world of soviet and post-soviet culture and life.
